Neville Update: Neville the cassowary is still with us. He has had a very hard start to life though! After losing two of his toes he is learning to walk again, and his leg wound is healing slowly but surely each day.
He still has a long way to go and will be with us for at least another couple of months. Unfortunately he will never be able to be released into the wild again but he will still be able to help to continue his species when he eventually goes to a new home in a sanctuary where he will be used in a breeding program.
He is getting very used to being handled by us here at Mossman Vet Surgery, and he is growing bigger everyday – and so is his appetite! We are still in need of donations of fruit, if anyone could help by bringing some down to Mossman vet it would be much appreciated.
